Monika Phelps is a visual artist and photographer based in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Known for her moody, quiet, and dramatic imagery, she captures spaces and subjects that feel suspended in time — from weathered buildings and shadowed graveyards to haunting floral studies and liminal interiors. Her work explores the lingering energy of place, evoking reflection and a sense of timelessness through stark contrasts and a limited, expressive palette.

With a background in film photography and darkroom experimentation, Monika's creative journey began in high school and evolved alongside the rise of digital photography. She developed a deep love for manipulating light, shadow, and color to construct emotional atmospheres, first photographing friends and musicians before expanding into portraiture and weddings. Today, she focuses solely on photography as art and creative expression— a quiet practice outside her corporate career in project management.

Her work has been featured in galleries and shows across the Tampa Bay Area, the Midwest, and Asheville’s River Arts District.
